Summary of Scoring
Points are awarded to each team based on accuracy and how quickly the members of each team submit their correct responses. For instance, in order for a team of five (5) players to win points for First Place, they would need to have the highest percentage of players on the team submit the correct answer in the shortest amount of time.
Since each place is based on the percentage of players on the team who answered the question correctly, it doesn't matter if teams are made up of a different number of players.
Scoring Illustration
To help illustrate scoring, here are a few examples:
Quiz question: "What color is the sun?"
(Points: 1st Place = 5 points, 2nd Place = 3 points, 3rd Place = 1 point)
Round #1 | Team 1 | Team 2 | Team 3 | Team 4 |
How many got it right? | 6 out of 9 (66%) | 7 out of 9 (78%) | 5 out of 8 (63%) | 3 out of 9 (33%) |
Result | 2nd Place | WINNER! (1st Place) | 3rd Place
Points Awarded | 3 points | 5 points | 1 point | zero |
Quiz question: "What sport is Babe Ruth associated with?"
(Points: 1st place = 5 pts, 2nd place = 3 pts, 3rd place = 1 pt )
Round #2 | Team 1 | Team 2 | Team 3 | Team 4 |
How many got it right? | 6 out of 9 (66%) | 7 out of 9 (78%) | 8 out of 9 (89%) | 8 out of 9 (89%) |
Average Response Time | 6.3 seconds (avg) | 5.8 seconds (avg) | 5.1 seconds (avg) | 6.7 seconds (avg) |
Result | 3rd Place | WINNER! (1st Place) | 2nd Place
Points Awarded | zero | 1 point | 5 points | 3 points |
In the example above, Team 3 won the most points because the team responded with the correct answer faster (on average) when compared to Team 4.
NOTE: If 2 teams have the exact same percentage of players who answered correctly, points will be awarded based on the fastest average response time. Also, a team will not be penalized by those who don't respond to the quiz question at all. When the game calculates how many players answered correctly, it uses the "total number of respondents" rather than "total number of players".
