Poll Blending is a useful way to look at results of one Poll through the eyes of another Poll.

Please note that the Poll Blender can only be used with two multiple choice polls.

In the image below we've blended two Polls together:

Poll 1: Which of the following social media platforms do you use? (mark all that apply)

Poll 2: Are you a male or female?

By blending these two Polls together we are able to see the breakdown of male vs. female use of each Social Media Platform. The results below show us that more females use Pinterest, while males are using Facebook, LinkedIn and blogging, etc.

You can setup Poll Blending before your live presentation begins (before attendees respond to polls) and the results will populate in real time (during your presentation). You can show the results in your PowerPoint presentation.

You can also use Poll Blending for data analysis after a presentation is over. The choice is yours.

HOW TO SETUP POLL BLENDING

First make sure you have created two multiple choice polls, where one poll is demographic in nature. After doing so:

Step 1:
Go into the session. Make sure you are signed in as a moderator. Click on session settings.

Step 2: Under the 'Presentations' heading, choose 'Add Live Content to PowerPoint or Keynote Presentation'.

Step 3: Scroll to the bottom of the page to find the 'Demographic Comparison (Poll Blending)' area. Choose your demographic poll and the outcome poll, and then click 'Create Demographic Comparison'. (Step 4 continues after the note below).

NOTE: There are two concepts, a Demographic Poll, and an Outcome Poll. Blending will show you how each Demographic responded in the Outcome.

In the Poll Blending example at the top of this article, the Outcome Poll was "Are you a male or female?".

If instead we chose the Outcome Poll to be "Which Social Media platforms do you use?" this is how the Blended results would appear.

Step 4: Now that you have created the blended slide, you'll want to add this to your presentation. To do so, visit 'Insert Live Content into PowerPoint or Keynote' (available under Session Settings).

Step 5: Add the new slide to your PowerPoint presentation using either Method A (the "Insert" option in the 'Conferences i/o' ribbon) or via Method B ("Download all slides at once"). For full instructions on this, visit our article on using the PowerPoint add-in.
